” Exult was born when I decided to take a giant leap of faith and set out on my own journey to follow my dreams!  Ever since I can remember, I have loved houses.  I had this book as a kid, “Need a House? call ms mouse”.  I remember spending hours looking at it, daydreaming and drawing up my own houses inspired by the images.”

Designer Q&A with Kate Evans_australian interiors 2

What do you wish the public knew about design?

Good design takes time. It needs to be considered and researched. There is so much more to it than fluffing a cushion or picking a paint colour.

For someone thinking about hiring a designer, what advice would you give them?

Make sure you find someone you have a good rapport with, and you feel you can trust.

How do you think interior design adds value to a project?

So many ways. Probably the main thing is our ability to create a cohesive plan before any money is spent. We look at so many aspects to make sure everything from the layout to furniture selections are all working together. We can highlight and fix many problems before they become just that! I can’t tell you how many friends I have watched build / renovate and rush out the day before to pick things before they need to be installed. Stress that could have been completely avoided if they used a designer before the job started.

What design myth would you like to bust?

You can get anything you want in a week.

What is your favourite part of the design process?

I love the start and the end the most, sorry cant pick just one! Creating the initial design is always fun, pulling everyones ideas together to create a cohesive design. Although, watching the clients reactions when a job is finished and seeing the design come to life is hands down the best part for me. It makes each little bump faced along the way worthwhile.
